Uber CEO announces lower priced “Drive yourself” service option

SAN FRANCISCO—After a string of branding and user interface updates to Uber’s mobile application, the company’s CEO, Dara Khosrowshahi, announced a new service option titled “Drive yourself” available to all users, today. This new option will be the lowest priced method of traveling with Uber, beating out the “Express Pool” feature released earlier this year.

Rather than ordering an Uber driver and having them come to you, Uber’s new “Drive yourself” option will utilize the millions of vehicles its network of customers already own. “Not only will this feature be the most convenient travel method for our users, but also the most consumer friendly granting customers the power to pick their own music, travel route, and vehicle speed during their trip.” Dara stated.

Once users select the “Drive yourself” option, they will be prompted to walk towards their own parked car and drive to the selected destination. “Brilliantly, the vehicle will be in the exact same place customers left it and conveniently ready to bring them home. After each trip is complete, users will be prompted to rate their driving experience in our traditional 5 star rating system.” Dara explained. In his closing comments, Dara reinforced “Uber’s mission to continuously innovate and develop cheaper methods of travel to get its users where they need to go.”
